According to research, it seems that the old name of Sineleotris saccharae be the name of Hypseleotris compressocephalus.

Recorded from the Xi Jiang (West River) and Lianhua mountains, Guangdong Province, Bei Jiang and the Dong Jiang (Guanxi and Guangdong Provinces), southern China.

I find curious that the Chinese sites put this specie in a vulnerable position and on the site of the iucn is found in Least Concern.

yes it is very odd because the Chinese sites he speaks of an old scientific name that corresponds to an other species.

when looking for pictures of Hypseleotris compressocephalus on google there are pictures that resembles Sineleotris saccharae.

And no official picture shows the Hypseleotris compressocephalus, this is very curious.

I was right about this case, a Chinese specialist just answer me, here his answer.

"Hypseleotris compressocephalus is considered as the synonym of Sineleotris saccharae. The differences of max length between the two nominal species were just caused by the records from different papers. Many fish species in China are still under incomprehensive survey."
